This Nov 8 picture shows locals buying goods at Gunung Rapat market. -NSTP/BALQIS JAZIMAH ZAHARIKUALA LUMPUR: The country has sufficient supply of essential goods, despite the ongoing Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) period, assured Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said that on Sunday the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) conducted 672 daily checks on 12 types of essential goods at the retail, wholesale and manufacturing levels.
"The officers conducted a special compliance checks on 1,284 premises, which saw 25 premises given advise and three given warnings for not complying with standard operating procedures (SOP) set for RMCO, while the other 1,256 premises complied with the SOPs.
"We would like to urge traders and members of the public to always practice the SOPs, including observing physical distance and personal hygiene especially when they are out to stock up on their necessities," he said in his daily press conference.
Ismail Sabri also said that a total of 63,519 individuals had returned to Malaysia between July 24 and Sunday, of which 53,424 individuals has been allowed to go home.
Out of this total figure, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 9,711 individuals were currently undergoing the 14 day mandatory quarantine.
"Those who are undergoing quarantine at the moment have been placed at 67 hotels and 21 other premises, including public and private institutions (which have been turned into quarantine centres) nationwide.
"Meanwhile, 384 individuals from the cumulative figures have been taken to hospitals for treatment," he said.
On sanitation operations, Ismail Sabri said the Housing and Local Government Ministry had conducted over 11,233 sanitation operation in 137 zones, to date.
"As of yesterday, 24 sanitation operations had been carried out in Sabah, Melaka, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Sarawak, Terengganu and here.
"This operation involved over 150 officers from Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) and 209 enforcement officers of local authorities, in which 22 JPBM tenders were used to conduct the operations," he said. - NST
