The world is full of colourful creatures. There are some hunters in it, and some hunted creatures. Animals adapt different methods to save themselves. Some prefer to either blend in with the surroundings or simply ‘disappear’. This is possible because they are transparent like glass and their skin has no colour.
Glass octopus with transparent skin usually lives in tropical seas where the sunlight is less. It belongs to the genus Vitreledonella. The octopus has a length of around 18 inches, its eyes are rectangular, and its vision very sharp. Their transparency makes them feel very distant from their predator and also helps defend themselves.
Comb Jelly are ancient animals and voracious carnivores that belong to the phylum ctenophora. This includes around 100 species. Their radially symmetric body contains eight rows of comb-like plates of fused cilia that beat in order for them to move through the water. The comb rows diffract light to create a rainbow display as they swim. Some comb jellies, additionally, exhibit bioluminescence or the emission of light by chemical reactions. Their body is over 95% water. When taken out of the water they literally look like a blob of jelly.

The glass catfish comes from southeast Asia and it’s a really popular fish with aquariums due in part to its see-through body. When kept in large groups the bass catfish can make for a pretty interesting display. Now the glass catfish grows typically around 2 inches in size when kept in aquariums but reaches up to six inches in the wild with a maximum lifespan of around five years.
This salamander was first found in 1946 at Barton Springs in Austin also known as Eurycea sosorum. It’s an endangered lungless salamander which grows approximately 2.5 inches long.

Jellyfish is the most beautiful transparent organism. There are many species, some of them are so transparent that to see them you need glasses with special lenses. These are about 2.5 cm long. The specialty of jellyfish is that light comes out from the veins of its body, due to which small creatures are attracted towards it, which makes it easy to hunt. Some species are also poisonous.
Glass squids are found deep in the middle of the southern hemisphere oceans. They are members of the Crenchidae family and have a large group of about 60 species. They can grow from about five centimetres to up to three meters long. These delicate looking squids look like glass bottles, some are completely transparent due to which they remain hidden from their predators. Some glass squids are visible due to glow in the sunlight. There is a light organ on the side of their eyes, due to which they glow, to hide themselves, these squids are lost by making a gnome shape.
