Stop Selfishly Politicising Indira S Case I M Sincere In Wanting To Help Igp
Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador has urged all parties to stop politicising M Indira Gandhi's plight of being separated from her daughter Prasana Diksa
This follows pressures from certain parties against police to arrest Indira's former husband Muhammad Riduan Abdullah and return Prasana to Indira after Abdul Hamid claimed that he knew the whereabouts of Muhammad Riduan
"In Malaysia, even dead people are politicised [...] Everything is politicised. Where is our dignity
"One side with their decrees (hukum) and the other side with their human rights, don't we think of (Indira's) family welfare
"They (both sides) enjoy (playing up) with this issue so they can score political points and be seen as championing religion or NGOs
"Please stop being selfish. Trust me, I am sincere in helping (to solve Indira's case)," Hamid said in a media conference at Bukit Aman today
Commenting on his revelation last week that he knew Muhammad Riduan's whereabouts, Hamid said what's important is the effort to solve the case
"I have certain information (on the case) which I cannot share, but the public insists on knowing and I cannot avoid by keeping mum
"I had to reveal just a little bit. When I said I know (Riduan's whereabouts), I did not say I know his specific location
"I said I know where he is, it doesn't mean he is in the country," he said
Hamid added: "What is important is the intention to expedite the case. Please remain optimistic so this problem can be solved."Following Hamid's admission last month, Indira's lawyer Rajesh Nagarajan said the plan to sue Hamid and the police for RM100 million might be expedited
He accused the police chief of being in contempt of court for failing to execute the Federal Court's order to arrest the father and return the child Prasana Diksa to her mother despite knowing the location of the father and daughter
Riduan, who was formerly known as K Pathmanathan, took Prasana away in 2009 when she was 11-months-old, shortly after he converted to Islam
In 2016, the Federal Court instructed then IGP Khalid Abu Bakar to arrest Muhammad Riduan and reinstated a mandamus order issued by the Ipoh High Court two years earlier for Prasana’s retrieval
A mandamus order is a court order compelling a government official to properly fulfil their official duties
In January 2018, the Apex court also nullified the conversion of Prasana and her two elder siblings to Islam. -Mkini
