Spirit Of Change In Party Polls Positive For Pkr Anwar

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said the “spirit of change” in the election recently is a positive development for the party.
This comes as Rafizi Ramli (above) is on track to be elected as the deputy president, based on the unofficial party polls’ results announced by the PKR central election committee (JPP) two weeks ago.
However, Anwar said he will only issue a statement on the party election once the JPP formally finalises the results.
“I have contacted Rafizi… I said I will make an official statement after the JPP makes a formal announcement.
“So I have been advised not to make any statements that would offend the election, but I feel that the election and the spirit of change is something positive for the party,” he said.
Anwar was speaking to reporters after attending the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur today.
Unofficial results
According to unofficial results released at the end of May, Rafizi has won the deputy president race against Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who is also the PKR secretary-general.
PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution IsmailIn the vice-presidential race, of which four elected positions are available, the projected winners are Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari, Tanjung Malim MP Chang Lih Kang, Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, and Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun.
Amirudin is aligned with Saifuddin while Nik Nazmi, Chang and Aminuddin are aligned with Rafizi.
Meanwhile, the top post for PKR Youth was won by Adam Adli, who is aligned with Saifuddin, while the PKR Women saw mixed results where Rodziah Ismail (Rafizi’s team) won the chief post while its number two position was won by Juwairiya Zulkifli (Saifuddin’s team).
PKR has since postponed its annual national congress, which was set for June 24 to 26, to July 16 to 17.
Saifuddin said the postponement was to enable the JPP to resolve several matters raised related to the party election. - Mkini
