Slight Increase In Number Of Flood Victims In Kedah Perlis

PETALING JAYA: The floods affecting several states have not shown any significant changes as of 8pm tonight, with the number of flood victims in Kedah and Perlis recording a slight increase while Perak and Johor have seen a slight decrease.
Bernama reported that the number of flood victims in Kedah has risen to 1,419 people from 447 families, up from 1,157 people from 347 families this evening. Pokok Sena is among the districts affected by the disaster.
Kedah Civil Defence Force deputy director Suhaimi Zain reported that 597 victims are currently sheltering in five temporary evacuation centres (PPS) in Kota Setar: SMK Alor Merah, SMK Kepala Batas, SK Taman Aman, SK Titi Gajah, and SK Haji Idris.
In the Kubang Pasu district, 559 victims are being housed in six PPS; SMK Changlun, SMK Indera Putra, SMK Mahawangsa, SK Ahmad Tajuddin, SK Malau and PPK Lubuk Batu hall. In Pendang, 240 people are being sheltered at the Dewan Rakan sports complex.
In Baling, 23 victims are being accommodated in four PPS: SMK Parit Panjang, SK Siong, Kampung Haji Abas community hall, and Maktab Mahmud School. Two PPS have been opened in Pokok Sena; SK Tualang and Pokok multipurpose hall. The number of victims in Pokok Sena is still being tabulated.
In Perlis, the state social welfare department’s data showed that the number of flood victims has increased to 195 from 62 families, up from 119 people from 38 families this evening. The victims are sheltering in three PPS: SK Sena in Kangar (89 victims), SK Kubang Gajah in Arau (52 victims), and SK Guar Nangka in Padang Besar (54 victims).
In Perak, the state’s disaster management committee’s secretariat reported that 163 people from 49 families are still taking refuge in three PPS, down from 215 people from 60 families this evening. They are located at PPS SK Changkat Lobak, SK Parit Haji Aman Bagan Serai in the Kerian district, and the Shooting Range multipurpose hall in Hilir Perak.
In Johor, the number of victims has decreased to 150 people from 28 families, down from 152 people from 30 families this evening. The evacuation centres are located at SK Sungai Linau in Kluang; SK Seri Anom and SK Parit Markom in Pontian; and SK Seri Bunut in Batu Pahat.
In Melaka, the number of flood victims remains at 22 people from six families, all of whom are being sheltered at PPS SK Tehel in Jasin. - FMT
