Siti Kasim To Female Detractor How I Treat My Hair Or My Body Is My Business
LIBERAL yet outspoken social activist Siti Kasim has ticked off an apparently staunch female Muslim netizen for trying to enlighten her that she has erred in her interpretation of how she should be dressing “for what she opposes is actually the rules of Allah”.
This comes about after the human rights lawyer “publicly declared” to her detractors that that she would not bow down to those who would impose their beliefs on her when she already has own set of faith to adhere to.
“I don’t care la how you want to observe your faith … You want to dress in a bin bag, please go ahead. JUST DO NOT IMPOSE AND FORCED BY USING LAWS AGAINST ME. That’s where I draw the line,” she penned on her Facebook page.
“Who are you mere mortals trying to punish me for not following your version of Islam which the so-called ‘offence’ without victims? No where in the Quran asked you to be busy body.”
But Siti Kasim’s stance was greeted with a somehow objection by one Ummu Afif Naimah who reminded the former that it is pitiful that the rules that she opposes “are the rules of Allah”.
This is when Siti Kasim attached a source from the Quran for the perusal of Ummu Afif Naimah.
But the ‘lady preacher’ who thought she was doing a favour for Siti Kasim by leading the latter back to the right path took jibes at the latter instead by claiming that “lawyers who are apt at critical thinking in courts fail to apply critical thinking in the spiritual domain”.
This led to some exchanges between the duo with Siti Kasim querying why can’t Ummu Afif Naimah read the article written based on the Quran with an open mind or if she is doubting the Quran by believing more in Hadiths.
However, the intellectual exchanges over how interpretations can be different dragged on before Ummu Afif Naimah who is seemingly adamant to convince Siti Kasim “to love her God” finally rest her case by wanting “to hug” the latter should they meet one day.
Interestingly, Siti Kasim has a number of like-minded Muslim fans who together have offered their knowledge to enable non-Muslims to better understand the aurat (parts of the body that cannot be exposed or should be covered according to Islam) requirement when it comes to women.
