Signature Campaign Demands Release Of 5 000 Rci Missing Papers

(Borneo Post) – Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Youth Movement will be organising a signature campaign to demand the present government to immediately release the 5,000 missing papers from the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) Report on Illegal Immigrants of Sabah.
The petition campaign will be headed by SAPP Youth Chief Jamain bin Sarudin and the contents are as follows:-
“We, as concerned Malaysians call upon the government to be transparent on the findings of the Commission of Inquiry.
In 2014, Lim Kit Siang had claimed that there were 5,000 pages that disappeared from the RCI report released in Kota Kinabalu by Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Ali bin Hamsa, Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia on 3rd December 2013.
The Pakatan Harapan Government is obliged to disclose reports on the investigation of illegal immigrants in Sabah.
“We express fears that there are certain things hidden by the previous government from the people’s knowledge.
When Lim Kit Siang and Pakatan Harapan leaders were in the opposition, they had demanded the immediate release of these missing 5,000 pages by the previous government.
“Lim had also claimed that these missing pages contained notes of evidences, statutory declarations, exhibits submitted during the inquiry proceedings.”
Lim had also written in his blog as quoted: “This is confirmation of the deep and widespread disbelief, dismay and disquiet by the people of Kota Kinabalu and Sabah over the RCIIIS Report, which has been such a great let-down after the high hopes and expectations of the people that finally, there would be a solution to the four-decade-old problem of illegal immigrants which has changed the political demography
in Sabah as well as the social, economic and security circumstances and landscape for Sabahans”.
“It is now almost a year since taking over the government (on May 9, 2018) by Pakatan Harapan, we have yet to see anything forthcoming.
“As such, we demand the Pakatan Harapan with all their powers in government and having access to all government documents to reveal what was allegedly the missing pages of the Royal Commission of Inquiry report on Illegal Immigrants of Sabah.
“The failure to disclose this report will show that Pakatan Harapan leaders are not transparent, inconsistent and lying to the people,” Jamain said.
Therefore, the SAPP Youth Movement in collaboration with other local NGOs is targeting 10,000 signatures to be handed to the government at the appropriate time.
