(File pic)KUALA LUMPUR: A senior police officer implicated in Pastor Raymond Koh’s case today disagreed with the findings of a task force set up to probe the disappearance of Koh and activist Amri Che Mat
Hazril Kamis, now an assistant director in Bukit Aman’s anti-human trafficking division, told the High Court that his statements were previously recorded by officers assisting the task force.
He said he was aware that the task force concluded that he was “dishonest” and had lied at the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) inquiry about preparing a list of items seized from a suspect’s house.
“I don’t agree. I was the one who prepared the list,” Hazril said while testifying during the hearing of a lawsuit filed by Koh’s wife, Susanna Liew, against him, the government and several others.
The task force had previously recommended that Hazril and fellow officers Khor Yi Shuen, Azizie Abd Hamid and Shamzaini Daud be referred to the inspector-general of police for further action.
Liew wants the authorities to be held liable for her husband’s unlawful abduction and for misfeasance in public office.

Hazril also told the court that, besides pictures of Koh, a police raid on a house in Pengkalan Hulu, Perak, in 2017 uncovered material related to terrorism, explosives and drugs.
He said that he and his then Special Task Force On Organised Crime (Stafoc) team were ordered to conduct the operation at the house of a male suspect, identified as Fauzi Tajuddin, in the early hours of the morning on June 17, 2017.
Fauzi was shot dead during the operation.
Hazril said his team seized the items found at Fauzi’s house.
He further claimed that Fauzi was a member of a “syndicate” involved in arms smuggling. “After I shot the suspect, I ran background checks on him,” he said.
The hearing continues before Justice Su Tiang Joo on May 14 and 15. - FMT
