(Bernama pic)TANJONG KARANG: The sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, has called on the health ministry to look into the need for comprehensive health facilities, especially hospitals, in the state.
He said the fact that the state’s population had exceeded seven million people, which is the highest in the country, meant there was a need for more health facilities with the latest equipment.
“I believe health services in hospitals should be supported by a good management system handled by a team of efficient staff so it can increase the capacity and quality of health services in Selangor,” he said at the official launch of the Tanjong Karang Hospital here.
“This also includes the maintenance aspect to ensure that hospital equipment and infrastructure are always in good condition for the benefit of the people.”
Also present was the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin.
The sultan also expressed his happiness at the completion of the hospital, which began operating on Oct 10 last year.
“Now that the hospital is operational, residents in the area, especially in the Kuala Selangor district, have access to better and more effective medical services,” he said.
The sultan also urged the staff at hospitals and health facilities to be more tolerant when dealing with patients and their families.
He also asked the public not to ostracise or stigmatise those with mental health problems, such as depression and extreme anxiety.
“I urge individuals with mental health issues to seek treatment from medical specialists,” he added.
The sultan also urged residents in Selangor to get their first and second booster doses of Covid-19 vaccines. - FMT
