PIC COURTESY OF THE POLICEKUALA LUMPUR: Police have reported another case of a person believed to have died from electrocution related to the floods that wreaked havoc in five districts in Selangor.
Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the body of a 24-year-old man was found lying face down at a single-storey house in Kampung Padang Jawa, Klang today.
Iqbal said the incident came to light after police were alerted by the public at around 6pm on the discovery of the man's body, believed to have been electrocuted.
"Checks showed there were no signs of struggle or other injuries that could have caused the victim's death.
"Initial investigations suggest that the victim was electrocuted while using a mobile phone that was being charged during the flood in the house," he said.
Iqbal also said the victim's body has been sent to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang for a post-mortem, scheduled to take place at about 10am tomorrow.
He added that the case has been classified as a sudden death report.
He also urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Mohd Fildza Bin Che Ibrahim, at 016-9537372.
"The police would like to remind the public to exercise caution when using electrical and electronic items during the flood season to avoid the risk of electrocution," he said.
Earlier today, it was reported that a 27-year-old man from Sri Lanka and a dog were believed to have been electrocuted during the floods in Taman Alam Indah, Section 25, Shah Alam.
Police were alerted to the incident following a distress call from a passer-by who saw the body lying motionless in the floodwaters. - NST
