Of the fresh cases, 4,814 were local transmissions while two were imported.
Selangor saw a big jump in new cases yesterday with 2,249, compared to 857 on Friday.
Kuala Lumpur reported 1,031 new cases, followed by 324 cases in Perak, 243 in Sabah, 214 in Negri Sembilan, 186 in Penang, 117 in Melaka, 115 in Kedah, 85 in Johor, 65 in Putrajaya, 56 in Pahang, 53 in Sarawak, 32 in Kelantan, and 19 in Terengganu.
Labuan and Perlis reported 18 and nine new cases, respectively.
Another nine deaths were reported yesterday, including one brought in-dead (BID) case, pushing the country's death toll to 35,911.
Of the total fatalities, 7,623 were BID.
The Health Ministry also reported another 3,928 recoveries from the coronavirus yesterday.
As of yesterday, active Covid-19 cases nationwide stood at 49,547.
Of the total, 47,932 individuals were placed under home quarantine and 1,535 patients were hospitalised.
A total of 49 patients were admitted to intensive care units (ICU) with 28 requiring ventilator support.
Another 31 patients were placed at Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).
Currently, the utilisation rate of hospital beds nationwide for Covid-19 treatment stood at 68 per cent, followed by ICUs at 61.9 per cent, ventilators at 41.9 per cent and PKRCs at 26 per cent.
Meanwhile, on vaccination progress, 1,474,627 children aged five to 11 have been fully vaccinated under the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids).
As for adolescents aged 12 to 17, a total of 2,887,911 have received two doses of the vaccine while 45,377 of the figure have received their first booster dose.
As for adults aged 18 and above, 16,128,051 have received their first booster dose as of yesterday; while 277,063 have received their second booster dose.
On the elderly aged 60 and above, a total of 2,580,493 have received their first booster dose and 133,616 have received their second booster dose.
Yesterday, 17,835 vaccine doses were administered, with 559 as the first dose, 7,885 as the second dose, and 1,015 and 8,376 as first and second booster doses respectively, bringing the total number of vaccine doses administered under the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme (NIP) to 71,714,777. - NST
