Search For Missing Irish Teen Reduced To 4km Radius Around Last Known Location
PETALING JAYA: The search for missing Irish teen Nora Anne Quoirin has been reduced to a 4km radius around her last known location to enable a more focused search, says Deputy Comm Datuk Mohamad Mat Yusop.
The Negri Sembilan police chief said a total of 317 Search-and-Rescue (SAR) personnel have been deployed Saturday (Aug 10) and their search will go on through the night.
"So far we have no credible leads on where she is but we will continue with the search.
"We are accepting information from all parties and our investigation explores all angles," he told a press conference at the search site in Nilai Saturday. The SAR personnel will still resume their mission on Sunday despite it being Hari Raya Aidiladha, he added.
"We will let some personnel go for the Hari Raya Haji prayers in the morning as the mosque is quite close. However, it will not hamper the search," he said.
Asked how long the SAR mission would go on, DCP Mohamad said it has not been decided and it will depend on developments.
On the possibility that Nora Anne was abducted, he said there is no evidence to indicate as such.
"We are very worried about her safety. We don't know how long she can survive.
"The SAR team is working diligently day and night to find her as soon as possible," DCP Mohamad said.
The police have also checked the criminal backgrounds of those within the locality and the matter is still under investigation, he added.
"We have also questioned several people as well as checked the homes of hotel staff. There is also no evidence that somebody has sighted Nora anywhere," he said. - Star
