Sabah Urged To Bar Rude Peninsula Figures After Hamzah S Remark
The Malaysian People’s Power Movement (G57) and the Sabahans Rise Coalition Movement are upset with Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin for using the term “palui” (stupid) during a ceramah in the state.
ADSCiting activist Fahmi Reza’s caricature of Sabah Governor Musa Aman, G57 chairperson Zulkarnain Mahdar called on the state to flex its immigration powers.
“G57 hopes that the Sabah government will use its immigration powers under MA63 to prevent political leaders and activists from Peninsular Malaysia from entering Sabah should they have a history of rudeness and have the potential of causing chaos in Sabah,” he was quoted as saying by Daily Express.
“The people of Sabah are not racist and have a high level of patience. Lately, however, the act of belittling them in the form of insults by politicians from Peninsular Malaysia has been seen to be more common.
“This should be stopped by preventing them from setting foot in Sabah,” he stressed.
Zulkarnain (above), who is also the chief adviser of the Sabahan Rise Movement and a staunch supporter of Chief Minister Hajiji Noor, said police reports will be lodged throughout the state against Hamzah.
Hamzah ZainudinHe said while the insult may be aimed at Hajiji, on principle, the movements would stand in solidarity against any insult aimed at Sabahans.
“Hamzah’s insults, aimed at Sabahans, are rude and insolent. Police reports will be made starting today (Friday) so that strict action is imposed,” he added.
Call for change
Yesterday, Malaysiakini reported Hamzah saying that the people of Sabah should change the state government.
He said the state government has failed to provide the people with electricity supply, clean water, and good roads, which are basic infrastructure needs that citizens deserve.
The state government comprises Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Pakatan Harapan.
However, GRS has been embroiled in a corruption scandal involving the issuance of mining exploration licences.
The scandal came to light after a whistleblower revealed videos implicating several assemblypersons. - Mkini
