Sabah Umno Leaders Labelled Troublemakers After Failed Move To Seize Power Says Sindumin Rep
(NST) – Sabah Umno leader Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin’s move to pull out of the state government tarnishes the image of the party, said Sindumin assemblyman Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob today.
He added that his had put Umno in a worse situation compared with when efforts to restore the party were carried out after the 15th General Election (GE15).
“Sabah Umno leaders are seen as ‘troublemakers’.
“This is what happens if we appoint leaders who have problems and lack common sense and do not think about the consequences when taking such actions.
“This action is shameful and can be ridiculed by the people.
“Bung Moktar’s reason for not consulting with him to ‘reshuffle the cabinet’ is inappropriate because this action started from him (Bung Moktar) as well.
“Why not negotiate with Hajiji (Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor) if you want to cooperate with Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan)?
“Bung Moktar’s action is a coup d’état or a hole in the roof.”
Yusof was among the five Sabah Umno assemblymen who did not agree with Bung Moktar’s move.
He said Bung Moktar’s move to seize power to join Warisan had failed on Jan 5 and yesterday due to insufficient numbers.
“Bung Moktar should have resigned because of the failed coup.
“Hajiji will take action to fire this traitor. This is a logical reaction to clean up the image of the government.
“This move has angered Netizens, the people.
“People do not want to change the government. They want the government to be stable, the prices of goods to go down, the economy to be good, and that there are jobs available.
“People are tired of politicking. Leaders are tired of political scheming.
“Government officials are tired, and investors and traders are getting more and more afraid of moves to seize power.
“You should wait for the state election in 2025. Finish this term first.”
Yusof said he had given his opinion and advised Bung Moktar on three occasions not to proceed with the move as it would not work.
Meanwhile, Umno’s Pantai Dalit assemblyman Datuk Jasnih Daya said he would not change his principles to support Sabah Umno’s withdrawal from the state government.
Jasnih said he would continue supporting the Hajiji-led government, adding that he was ready to accept punishment or be dismissed from Umno.
“I believe the government under Hajiji will work hard for the people and should be given the chance to finish its two-year term.
“I made this decision to not only protect my principles but also the honour of my family and nation.”
