(Facebook pic)PETALING JAYA: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah has rejected Sabah Umno’s claim the state government has betrayed Sabahans following a video of a purported meeting between businessman Albert Tei and deputy chief minister Jeffrey Kitingan
Sabah Umno strategic communications director Rosman Ahir Zaman alleged that the video exposed “the filth of corruption” within GRS, and accused chief minister Hajiji Noor of keeping silent out of fear the video would negatively affect the state’s ruling coalition.
In a statement today, GRS Youth information chief Barhul Sahibu described Rosman’s claim as unfounded political slander and said Sabahans are mature enough to judge GRS for themselves.
“An unverified video is being used as political ammunition. If there’s real evidence, bring it to the authorities, don’t just shout in the media,” he said.
Barhul also said Sabah Umno has no moral standing to speak about integrity given the corruption charges that state Umno chief Bung Moktar Radin is facing.
“Bung has an ongoing corruption case. Isn’t that clear evidence of who the real political liability is?” he said.
“Don’t try to be a moral champion when your own house is covered in mud. Sabah Umno can repeat the same tired script a thousand times, but Bung’s own record already proves who has failed to uphold the people’s dignity.”
Barhul also said the personal attacks on Hajiji are merely an attempt to distract from Sabah Umno’s weaknesses after its defeat in the last state election.
“Hajiji is focused on development and the people’s wellbeing. Umno can stage its theatrics, but GRS is working for the rakyat.
“Sabah doesn’t need a party that survives on sensationalism, it needs leadership with a clear direction for the state,” he said. - FMT
