However, Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said districts with less than 60 per cent vaccination rate will not be included in the zoning system.
"The Sabah government agrees to move into the zoning system starting Oct 1 provided that 60 per cent of the state's adult population has been fully vaccinated.
"The districts within each zone must also achieve the same vaccination rate for their adult population.
"Districts that have yet to reach the 60 per cent rate will automatically not qualify to be part of the zoning system and remain under the 'stand-alone district' status," he said in a statement today.
Sabah has six zones for inter-district travel. They are: Zone 1 – Kota Kinabalu, Kota Belud, Ranau, Tuaran, Penampang, Putatan and Papar; Zone 2 – Beaufort, Kuala Penyu and Sipitang; Zone 3 – Kudat, Kota Marudu and Pitas; Zone 4 – Sandakan, Beluran, Kinabatangan and Tongod; Zone 5 – Tawau, Semporna, Lahad Datu, Kunak and Kalabakan; Zone 6 – Keningau, Tambunan and Tenom.
As of yesterday, Sabah's full vaccination rate among the adult population was at 63.5 per cent.
Masidi also said the state government has agreed to reopen the spa business sector, beauty salons, reflexology, wellness centres, and health massage as well as pedicure and manicure services effective Oct 1.
Employees and customers must be fully vaccinated and have low-risk status, he said.
The state government is also allowing the reopening of tourism and recreation activities, namely tourism products such as zoos, plantations, aquariums, edutainment centres, as well as extreme, adventure and jungle parks.
"The tourism and recreation activities are allowed to operate from Oct 1, provided all operators and visitors have been fully vaccinated and have low-risk status," he said.
Masidi reiterated that premises owners need to ensure that any individual who enters their premises must show evidence that they were fully vaccinated and have a low-risk status on the MySejahtera app.
Today, Sabah recorded 965 new Covid-19 cases, including 225 backlog cases.
Masidi said 30-day data shows that Sabah is experiencing a downward trend of cases even though the daily record is not static.
"It is difficult to anticipate or predict whether there will be an increase or decrease in cases the next day.
"This is because the biggest variable that influences the number of cases depends on the community's compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOP)," he said.
Sabah also registered 38 Covid-19 fatalities – nine in Tawau, four each in Kota Kinabalu and Putatan, three each in Sandakan and Kunak, two each in Lahad Datu, Kota Marudu and Beaufort, and one each in Semporna, Keningau, Papar, Kota Belud, Tuaran, Penampang, Kudat, Ranau and Tenom. - NST
