IN a defeat conceding tone, fugitive blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin (RPK) has berated how the opposition’s indecisiveness and internal squabbling over who the Prime Minister (PM) candidate should be has eventually led to the failure of the Dubai Move coup.
(Focus Malaysia) – As if he is presenting a post-mortem of the unfruitful conspiracy which has become the talk of the town since J-KOM (the Community Communications Department) alleged a plot to overthrow the unity government on Dec 29, the opposition-slant mercenary blogger also hit out at the opposition’s inability to capitalise on Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s weak cabinet
“It’s not that Pakatan Harapan (PH) is strong for on its own it only obtained 82 seats (in the 15th General Election) … and even if the unity government is made up of 21 diverse political parties from four coalitions (Barisan Nasional, GPS, GRS), the fact remains that Anwar’s government may not be good but the alternative is worse,” lamented RPK in his latest video clip.
“Even if the opposition succeeds in their vote of no confidence against Anwar’s unity government, they seemed to be focusing on who would replace Anwar as the PMXI (11th PM) rather than be fully committed to topple the government.”
As it is, RPK is disappointed that the opposition was unable to  decide between (Datuk Seri) Hamzah Zainuddin (Opposition leader), Tok Mat (UMNO deputy president), Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (Perikatan Nasional chairman) , Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein (former UMNO vice-president) “while Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar (Terengganu Menteri Besar) is regarded as a newbie without cabinet portfolio and track record”.
“Anwar’s biggest dilemma is his weak cabinet but the opposition not only doesn’t have a solid PM choice but also no qualified cabinet minister candidates in mind even though they claimed to have a shadow cabinet,” chided the self-exiled blogger who has been living in Manchester, UK since 2009.
“I challenge them so show me who’s in their shadow cabinet … if you ask 100 rakyat, 99 can’t name them even if the opposition claims that they (shadow cabinet ministers) exist.
“Should there be a working shadow cabinet, the opposition could have issued a statement on an alternative Budget 2024 by its shadow finance minister … they are simply too many undone jobs/areas which raised suspicion on the credibility of the opposition in the eyes of the rakyat.
“Let’s stop talking about toppling the unity government or changing the government of the day but think about how we can guarantee that the new PM and his cabinet is better and more capable/efficient than what we have now.”
Peeping into his crystal ball, RPK expressed concern of what happened previously in the aftermath of the Sheraton Move conspiracy in February 2020 would recur amid current scenario of uncertainties.
“What did we get at the end of the day? We just threw out a bunch of jokers and replace the whole government with a bunch of even bigger jokers,” he recalled.
“If such is the case, my personal view is that it will be better if we keep the present government and PM until the alternative government or the opposition can prove that they can be better than what we have now … the way I see it, the present government may not be good but the opposition is not much better.”
