Royal Klang City Council Defends Contractors In Viral Road Resurfacing Video

Port Klang assemblyman Azmizam Zaman Huri showing the repair works done.KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Klang City Council (MBDK) has defended contractors involved in road resurfacing works at Persiaran Permai 1 and Persiaran Permai 3, following allegations in a viral video that the job was not carried out according to specifications.
In a statement, the council said continuous monitoring would be conducted to ensure resurfacing works meet the quality standards set by the council.
"Port Klang assemblyman Azmizam Zaman Huri was present at the site around 6.30pm, while works were still ongoing," the statement read.
Responding to several concerns raised in the video, MBDK provided the following clarifications.
"The area said to have no 'tack coat' sprayed is a section where the surfacing work has yet to be carried out by the contractor.
"On claims that water was ponding in uneven areas and not dried before surfacing work was done, the water in the ponded area was dried out by the contractor before the surfacing work was conducted."
The council also clarified that the contractor temporarily halted the work to carry out the cleaning of construction debris in preparation for the road base binder course.
The council confirmed that resurfacing works at Persiaran Permai 1 and Persiaran Permai 3 took place between 10.30am and 7pm on the reported day.
"All issues raised have been addressed and will continue to be monitored. We are committed to ensuring all works are in line with the council's standards," the statement added.
MBDK also expressed its appreciation to Azmizam for his ongoing feedback and involvement in improving infrastructure within the constituency. - NST
