Rm2 7mil Approved For Muar Projects This Year Fadillah Tells Syed Saddiq
Deputy prime minister Fadillah Yusof (left) told Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman the unity government has never neglected the residents of any parliamentary constituency, including Muar.PETALING JAYA: The federal government has approved RM2.7 million for the implementation of 60 projects and programmes in the Muar parliamentary constituency so far this year, says deputy prime minister Fadillah Yusof.
Fadillah said it was inaccurate for Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman to claim that his constituency did not receive funds because of “political revenge to pressure voters”.
“The RM2.7 million allocation covers 60 projects and programmes in Muar, which include nine upgrading projects and mosque restoration projects totalling RM741,000, as well as 18 people-friendly projects which cost RM800,000.
“Such funding proves that the unity government has never neglected the residents of any parliamentary constituency, including Muar,” Berita Harian quoted him as saying.
Fadillah, who is also the energy transition and water transformation minister, was responding to Syed Saddiq’s claim on Sunday that his constituency has not received any allocations despite eight months of discussions on the matter.
The former youth and sports minister also claimed that he had met Fadillah twice to go over parliamentary constituency funds for Muar.
Fadillah also said the federal government has approved RM30.39 million for the Muar parliamentary constituency under the Fourth Rolling Plan (RP4) of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).
“There are nine projects involved, five of which are currently being implemented, two in the post-implementation phase, and one in the pre-implementation phase,” he said.
“The other project is the replacement of the MRI machine at the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital, which is under the health ministry.
“The five projects in the implementation stage are the construction of the Muar Youth Hub under the youth and sports ministry, the demolition and reconstruction of the marine police operations base jetty for Zone 2 under the home ministry, and the replacement of the computed tomography (CT scan) machine at the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital.”
He said the two other projects currently being implemented are two food courts which fall under the purview of the housing and local government ministry.
Fadillah said the two projects in the post-implementation stage are the construction of the Bukit Panjang Orang Asli kindergarten under the rural and regional development ministry, and a wave breaker project under his ministry.
He said the sole project in the pre-implementation phase is the construction of the Muar River dam, which is also under his ministry. - FMT
