Rina Jainal’s exit from Warisan will not weaken the party, says Warisan leader Shafie Apdal.KOTA BELUD: Warisan president Shafie Apdal claimed today that Kukusan state assembly member Rina Jainal signed “a document” before announcing she was leaving the party today.
He said Rina also received a “reward” which further prompted her to announce her exit from Warisan.
“I understand she (Rina) has signed (a document), but I do not know what it is,” he said at a press conference after attending a Warisan event here. “I don’t know how much she got, but that can’t be avoided.”
Shafie insisted that Rina’s exit from the party did not weaken Warisan, especially in the Tawau and Kalabakan areas. “We are still strong in Tawau, Kalabakan,” he said.
Rina, who was vice-chief of the party’s women’s wing, Wirawati Warisan, announced earlier today that she had left Warisan to join Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (Harapan Rakyat).
Five Warisan elected representatives have left the party since the 2020 Sabah state elections, namely Lahad Datu MP cum Segama assemblyman Mohamaddin Ketapi, Melalap assemblyman Peter Anthony, Sebatik assemblyman Hassan A Gani Pg Amir, Sindumin assemblyman Yusof Yaacob, and Limbahau assemblyman Juil Nuatim.
“We have dragged some of them to court because of the agreements they signed with us before this,” said Shafie. “That (court action) is definitely something we will do (against Rina).” - FMT
