Refrain From Making Premature Announcements Rafizi Tells Muda
PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli has advised all quarters to refrain from announcing which seats they will contest in the upcoming general election as it may lead to disputes between allies.
This came after Negeri Sembilan Muda chief Tarmizi Anuwar revealed yesterday the party’s intention to contest for the Kuala Pilah parliamentary seat.
Rafizi (above) tweeted yesterday saying such a move was not helping the opposition and everyone should instead focus on fighting BN and Perikatan Nasional.
"My advice to all parties at all levels - avoid announcing which seats to contest.
"This is not helping. Focus on fighting BN and PN. Show the people why they should not vote for them (ruling coalition).
"This matter should be discussed privately, not openly. It can get very noisy," the former Pandan MP said.
Rafizi was responding to a Free Malaysia Today report which quoted Tarmizi as saying that Muda and Negeri Sembilan DAP are collaborating to strengthen their joint action in the state.
Tarmizi also said Muda eyes to contest for the Kuala Pilah parliamentary seat, which is currently held by Bersatu's Eddin Syazlee Shith.
‘Arrogant Harapan’
In another development, former Malaysian Bar president Ambiga Sreenevasan slammed Pakatan Harapan on social media.
Former Malaysian Bar president Ambiga SreenevasanThis came after its communications director Fahmi Fadzil claimed the coalition will sort out seat allocation matters for the next general election before considering accepting other parties into the Harapan fold.
"Unbelievable arrogance from Harapan. Muda is a breath of fresh air for goodness sake!
“That’s why many are not even going out to vote for Harapan. Stick to your jaded script and you will lose supporters," she tweeted.
Fahmi, who is also Lembah Pantai MP, said only seats left by their former partner, Bersatu will be up for negotiation, while constituencies belonging to coalition members will be left as status quo.
Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said on Tuesday that his party has had informal talks with Harapan's senior leadership on joining the coalition.
For the record, Harapan chairperson Anwar Ibrahim has said that the coalition's presidential council has yet to discuss about cooperating with Muda. - Mkini
