Rayer May Have Been Living In A Cave When Muhyiddin Was Pm

Jelutong MP RSN Rayer may have been living in a cave during Muhyiddin Yassin's tenure as prime minister, quipped Malaysian Indian People's Party (MIPP) deputy president S Subramaniam.
This came after Rayer questioned what Muhyiddin had done to help the poor while the Perikatan Nasional chairperson helmed the country.
"I believe Rayer has just woken up from a coma or was living in a cave during Muhyiddin’s time as prime minister. Not just our country but the entire world knows that Muhyiddin was prime minister during the Covid-19 crisis.
"In response to the economic impact due to Covid-19, he introduced a stimulus package worth RM250 billion to alleviate economic pressures.
ADS"Most importantly, this stimulus package was for all Malaysians, including the wealthy who were also affected by the movement control order," Subramaniam (above, right) told Malaysiakini.
Former prime minister Muhyiddin YassinHe added that the PN leader also announced a six-month automatic loan repayment moratorium for all, regardless of whether they were in the B40, M40 or T20 groups.
"Let’s not forget the RM300,000 food aid programme for each MP. I’m sure Rayer also received this allocation as an MP at the time.
"I'm sure he also helped, but I’m not certain if Rayer's assistance reached all groups," the PN component party leader stated.
ADSAttack on the rich
Previously, Subramaniam accused Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of continuing an “attack” towards the rich, saying it was as if being wealthy had become a sin during the Madani administration.
His comments came on the heels of Anwar's statement that the government may stop providing subsidies to finance the education of children from wealthy families.
Prime Minister Anwar IbrahimRayer defended Anwar’s remarks, saying that if the government stopped providing education subsidies to students from rich families, it would benefit children from poor families by offering them a level playing field.
What’s new for Indians?
Subramaniam called on Rayer to reveal the Madani government’s new plans specifically for the Indian community, if any.
"Before coming to power, Pakatan Harapan leaders constantly criticised previous governments for allegedly neglecting the Indian community.
“They also repeatedly criticised specific programmes for the Indian community announced by the BN and PN governments.
"So, I challenge Rayer to list the new plans from the government specifically for the Indian community,” he said.
The MIPP deputy president pointed out that all the well-known initiatives such as the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra), Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) loans for Indian women - now known as the Special Empowerment Fund for Indian Women (PENN), Tekun loans, and Deepavali food assistance were from previous governments.
"This means the current government has not introduced any new plans to help the Indian community but is simply continuing programmes from previous administrations," he added. - Mkini
