Putting Lives At Risk For The Baloney Called Restoring Pakatan S Mandate

Has Anwar and his ilk forgotten what the Sabah state election last year did to the country? Prior to the polls, the Government had COVID-19 under control; with our daily infections hovering around two-digits and low fatalities. Following the Sabah state election, our infections cases soared rapidly, with cumulative cases hovering over two million with 28,000 deaths. G Vinod, Focus Malaysia
Yesterday, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said something interesting which was picked up by several news portals.
A glaring one was his defence of Pakatan Harapan cozying up to three out of the four Melaka “frogs”, saying the people should not dismiss them as they were merely trying to restore Pakatan’s mandate in the state.

However, during his defence of the trio, he said something that probably many could have missed and the writer is going to quote his own words here:
“The understanding at the time was that the three will back Harapan in Malacca to form a new government. This did not take place because Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali convinced governor Tun Mohd Ali Rustam to dissolve the legislative assembly before a new government could be formed.”
“Now, there are people on social media who want us to reject them. That is not right. They supported efforts to restore (Harapan’s) mandate.
“Secondly, the understanding (between the three and Harapan) was that they wanted to join us. If they take action later, they know they will be sacked from their parties.
“Therefore, we cannot just sideline them. I will have to discuss more with the (PKR) leadership in Malacca and then with the Harapan leadership. We have to take these issues into account before making a decision,” Malaysiakini reported Anwar as saying.
Based on what the Opposition Leader was reported saying, can the writer safely assume that Pakatan was instrumental in collapsing the Melaka state government?
If that is the case, it’s pretty obvious that a leopard indeed does not change its spots, and in Anwar’s case, his “love” for political frogs will never cease!
All the cases we have now has its roots to the Sabah state election last year. In case our politicians have forgotten, the polls were also triggered due to self-serving “political frogs”.
Pray tell us, Pakatan Harapan, is putting public lives on the line worth the risk of restoring “Pakatan’s mandate”?
If that does not trigger your conscience, let the writer paint a picture for you, something that may spook our politicians.
Frogs can leap again and again!
Let us assume that Barisan Nasional, Perikatan Nasional or Pakatan win the Melaka state polls with a strong majority; well and good. Apart from the projected flare up of COVID-19 cases, I guess our politicians can sit and bask on their glory, with the losers backing out to fight another day.
But what if the coalitions get a narrow majority? With no anti-hopping laws in place, these coalitions will definitely try to entice as many “frogs” as possible to increase their majority.
With that said, what makes Pakatan leaders think that these trio will not go back to their “old homes”, with the “right price” attached?
So what if they had been sacked from their respective parties? They can always become pro-Government independents!
In a nutshell, the writer finds it mind-boggling that Pakatan could still think it is okay to deal with political frogs when the Opposition pact, since its inception, having suffering the most due to these spineless leaders.
On argument of restoring “Pakatan’s mandate”, allow the writer to remind our opposition leaders that that it was not UMNO or Barisan Nasional (BN) that toppled your short-lived administration.
It was your then-coalition partner, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia which decided to stab Pakatan in the back and form a pact with BN, to kick you guys out from Putrajaya.
And as a reminder to our dear Opposition Leader, Bersatu alone could not have done it without the support of your then blue-eyed boy, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and Cos’ support.
So, pray tell, Mr Port Dickson MP and fellow Pakatan leaders, is getting betrayed by your own allies and leaders not good enough of a lesson when it comes to working with “political frogs”?
