Puad Urges Umno Divisions To Condemn Frog Those Embracing Hopper
Puad Zarkashi has urged all Umno divisions to table a motion at the party’s annual delegates conference condemning Tengku Zarful Abdul Aziz’s party-hopping and PKR’s readiness to embrace “frogs”.
ADSThe Umno supreme council member also made it clear that the party would not permit itself to be bullied or manipulated.
“Umno is a party that prioritises the people. Umno is also a party that respects the advice of the Malay rulers. That is why Umno joined the Perikatan Nasional government and also the unity government.
“However, that does not mean Umno can be controlled or manipulated,” he added in a Facebook post.
Puad said this is the reason Umno withdrew its support for Perikatan Nasional chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin, forcing him to resign as prime minister in August 2021 after just 17 months in office.

Former Umno member Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz“Umno needs to be firm on the Zafrul issue because Umno does not want it to threaten the stability of the unity government,” he added.
Party pledge
Previously, Puad urged the party leadership to review whether Zafrul, who is the investment, trade and industry minister, can be held liable for RM100 million in damages for allegedly breaching his pledge as a BN candidate following his decision to quit Umno to join PKR.
However, Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan said the pledge signed by Zafrul when he was a BN candidate cannot be enforced because he did not win in the election.
Zafrul contested the Kuala Selangor seat under the BN banner in the 15th general election but was defeated by Pakatan Harapan’s Dzulkefly Ahmad.
He was first appointed as a senator and minister under the PN administration in March 2020. He was reappointed in December 2022 under the federal coalition government, with his senatorial term set to end later this year. - Mkini
