Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi said although he agreed with Lim that Dr Mahathir was no longer fit to serve the role as an adviser to a state government, the Umno supreme council member also wanted the former Iskandar Puteri to stop meddling with the affairs and future direction of DAP.
Puad was referring to Lim's statement, in which, the latter questioned the proposal by Pas to appoint Dr Mahathir as the adviser to the four states controlled by Perikatan Nasional (PN).
"He (Lim) is right. Dr Mahathir is no longer fit to become an adviser. He is just disturbing the stability (of the country). He (Dr Mahathir) has his own agenda.
"But Lim, Dr Mahathir and (Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri) Muhyiddin (Yassin) had once cooperated (when they took part) in the 'Selamatkan Malaysia' (rally).
"They are no longer relevant. Lim should also refrain from meddling (in the affairs of DAP). Let DAP charts its own course under the leadership of (the party secretary-general) Anthony Loke," Puad wrote in a Facebook post today.
In a post on his blog yesterday, Lim had said that Dr Mahathir's role as an unofficial adviser to PN-led states contradicted his previous criticisms of Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.
Lim pointed out that in Dr Mahathir's book "Capturing Hope – The Struggle Continues for a New Malaysia", the former prime minister wrote about Abdul Hadi sowing division among Malay-Islam in politics.
"Now, Mahathir is eating his own words by becoming an unofficial adviser to the four Pas' states, although the party, under Abdul Hadi, is trying to do so on the Malaysian scale what he had done previously.
"Condemning DAP as anti-Malay, anti-Islam, anti-Royalty, communist and spreading Islamophobia without any iota of evidence or proof whatsoever," said Lim. - NST
