Prove Your Courage Dissolve Cabinet Sabah Umno Leader Tells Grs
A Sabah Umno leader has challenged Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) to dissolve the state cabinet and face the people in the upcoming state election, claiming this would demonstrate the coalition’s political integrity.
Sabah Umno strategic communications director Datu Rosman Datu Ahir Zaman issued the challenge following Chief Minister Hajiji Noor’s remarks that GRS is prepared to go solo should BN and Pakatan Harapan finalise their electoral pact.
“It sounded like a threat,” said Rosman in a statement yesterday.
“If GRS truly upholds its principles and wants to prove it is not a coalition of cowards, then it should immediately dissolve the state cabinet and pave the way for fresh polls without waiting for automatic dissolution.”
Yesterday, Hajiji said GRS was prepared to go solo, and that Sabah parties must be the core of the state government.
Hajiji was responding to a joint announcement by Harapan secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and unity government secretariat head Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki that BN and Harapan have agreed to cooperate in the state election.
Credibility questioned
Rosman, however, further accused GRS of attempting to appear brave while being tainted by allegations of corruption and abuse of power, particularly involving the issuance of mineral licences allegedly linked to Hajiji, eight assemblypersons and the state assembly speaker.

Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor“According to the MACC, investigations into the scandal are ongoing, and the people of Sabah are still waiting for answers,” he added.
Rosman also questioned the credibility of the eight local parties under the GRS umbrella, calling for them to seek a fresh mandate without depending on national parties.
He reminded GRS of its earlier endorsement of Perikatan Nasional chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin as prime minister after the 15th general election - only to later switch support to Anwar Ibrahim once it became clear PN couldn’t form a government.
“Muhyiddin later labelled GRS as traitors,” said Rosman.
He also recalled a past remark by federal minister and GRS leader Armizan Ali, who previously said, “If you want to be like Sarawak, follow Sarawak’s way.”
"Therefore, GRS must be brave to move forward. Prove that they are not a nest for 'political frogs', but a principled local coalition and ready to reject external political interference,” stressed Rosman.
‘Extraordinary achievement’
Sabah Bersatu Youth chief Hisyam Hazaril sarcastically congratulated the Sabah elected representatives implicated in the corruption scandal, for "elevating" the state's name to the international news stage.
Specifically, Hisyam referred to Malaysiakini's coverage of the scandal, which has been shortlisted for a Society of Publishers Asia award under The Scoop category.

Hisyam commended the news portal, saying it truly deserved the recognition for its “dedication and courage”.
"Congratulations also to several Sabah assemblypersons and GRS for successfully 'elevating' Sabah’s name to the international news stage.
"This 'extraordinary achievement' by Sabah lawmakers will certainly make the state known - but for the wrong reasons.
"After all, this recognition does not stem from excellence in developing the state or championing the people’s welfare, but from involvement in a corruption scandal that has now become the focus of international media," he said.
Hisyam added that the award shortlisting should serve as a serious challenge to the authorities, as it is clear evidence of the people's demand for transparency, firmness, and immediate action. - Mkini
