Prove Muhyiddin S 80pct Support Claim Wrong Guan Eng Urges Penang Govt

The Penang state government has been called on to put its shoulder to the wheel to defeat Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the looming state polls.
DAP chairperson Lim Guan Eng said the northern state must prove that PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin’s claim of 80 percent voter support for the opposition coalition is merely empty talk.
“The Penang state government must not take the upcoming state elections lightly.
“Although the coalition government has been formed, there are certain parties who still refuse to accept the reality.
“Some are attempting repeatedly to topple or replace a legitimate government that has been recognised by the Agong and accepted by the people,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.
Previously, Muhyiddin expressed confidence that his coalition would get up to 80 percent of votes, especially from the Malay population, in the upcoming state elections.
He said the confidence was based on a study by the coalition which showed that Bersatu, Gerakan, and PAS are ahead in terms of popularity and leadership.
Meanwhile, Lim asserted that the goal of the state elections is not only to defend the current Pakatan Harapan-BN federal government, but also to make a difference in other states by retaining or securing more seats.
“I believe that as long as we continue to strive, we will succeed.
“We expect that the state legislative assemblies to be dissolved at the end of June, and the polling day is expected to be held in early August.
“This is the time when the people from these six states must demonstrate what has been decreed and decided by the king in order to form a coalition government is a wise decision that allows Malaysia and its people to continue moving forward,” he said.
The six states due to hold elections this year are Harapan-held Penang, Selangor, and Negeri Sembilan as well as PAS-ruled Kedah, Terengganu, and Kelantan. - Mkini
