Proud Malaysian Who Records First Petronas Fueling Station In Brazil Goes Viral For His Enthusiasm

IT IS something else to be having nasi lemak in Tokyo or doing anything that is culturally Malaysian in a foreign land.
More than that, it is a joy for us to be seeing something familiar in a place we don’t expect, much like a breath of fresh air.
Perhaps that is what a Malaysian felt when he saw the first Petronas refueling station in Brazil. Note that this article is not an advertisement for Petronas. 
In the video, he could be seen enthusiastically recording the petrol station as though it was the most amazing landmark on the planet.

His enthusiasm proved infectious as the video turned viral, garnering over 2,400 reposts and over 90 comments.
But it would seem that there is more to the story. Netizen @MasryZainol pointed out that the man in the video was responsible for setting up the Petronas station.

“No wonder his face is so proud,” added @adibhazlami who shared the viral video.
@_AnnoNano_ continued, pointing out that he must have felt at home since Petronas was one of the symbols of Malaysia.

“It looks exactly like the Petronas at the Karak highway,” said @takamiorange to which several others replied that the weather in Brazil was also similar to that in Malaysia.

Another netizen suggested the guy in the video teach the Brazilians how to use the Setel app to pay for fuel instead of troubling themselves at the counter. But is the Setel usable there? 
“Do the Mesra shop there sell curry puffs?” @fariqikhwan wondered.
Strangely, the topic took a slight turn into crime where netizens pointed out the high crime rate in Brazil. 
“Be careful brother. There are cartel gangs there,” said @LittleBoy98617.
“Just yesterday my brother met a lady from Brazil who worked in Kuala Lumpur at Petronas. She said the crime there is terrible,” said @MichaelLwk among other things.

No further information could be derived from the video post, but the news portal Malay Mail claimed the first Petronas fuel station was located in Sao Paulo. — Focus Malaysia
