Probe On Najib Rosmah S Leaked Judgments Ongoing
Police had said 17 witnesses had given their statements in the probe into the alleged leaked judgment in Najib Razak’s case, while 10 others were summoned earlier in the case involving Rosmah Mansor.PETALING JAYA: The investigation into the alleged leaked judgments in former prime minister Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor’s corruption trials is ongoing.
Law and institutional reform minister Azalina Othman Said said the police had submitted their investigation papers to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) on Sept 22 last year.
Azalina said the AGC then instructed for phone data and laptops obtained by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to be given to CyberSecurity Malaysia for a second expert opinion.
“The case items were submitted to CyberSecurity Malaysia on Feb 5. The investigating officer had contacted the CyberSecurity officer and an appointment was set on Feb 10,” she said in a written parliamentary reply.
The chief registrar’s office of the Federal Court had lodged a police report in August 2022 over an alleged leak of a court ruling in Rosmah’s corruption trial involving the Sarawak schools solar energy project worth RM1.25 billion.
The alleged leaked document was first posted by the Malaysia Today website run by blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin.
The Kuala Lumpur High Court found Rosmah guilty of all three counts of corruption over the solar energy project in September. She was sentenced to 10 years’ jail and fined RM970 million.
The chief registrar’s office also lodged a police report over the alleged leak of the written judgment on Najib’s appeal, which was published in a blog.
It said the document was merely a draft and was not finalised.
The Federal Court affirmed Najib’s conviction and sentence in the SRC International case in August 2022. The former Pekan MP is currently serving his 12-year jail term.
In September last year, Kuala Lumpur police chief Azmi Abu Kassim said 17 witnesses had given their statements for the case involving Najib, while 10 others were summoned previously for Rosmah’s. - FMT
