Probe Into Muhyiddin S Role In Jana Wibawa Ongoing Says Macc

The anti-graft agency’s chief, Azam Baki, says investigation papers involving the former prime minister have yet to be handed over to the Attorney-General’s Chambers. (FMT) – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is still investigating former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin in relation to the Jana Wibawa programme, says its chief commissioner, Azam Baki.
Azam said investigation papers involving the Perikatan Nasional chairman and Bersatu president have yet to be handed over to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC).
“Investigations are ongoing,” he said at a press conference at the MACC headquarters here today.
The Jana Wibawa programme, introduced in November 2020 when Muhyiddin was the prime minister, was a Covid-19 stimulus initiative to help Bumiputera contractors.
On Saturday, Muhyiddin confirmed that he had been summoned by MACC over projects awarded under Jana Wibawa. However, he said he was not a suspect.
Three people have been charged with soliciting and accepting bribes in relation to Jana Wibawa, including former Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan and Segambut Bersatu deputy chief Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad.
Teo Wee Cheng, a 65-year-old businessman with a Datuk title, was also slapped with nine charges of soliciting and accepting bribes totalling RM12.8 million in relation to the programme yesterday.
All three pleaded not guilty.
Muhyiddin has denounced the charges against Wan Saiful as selective prosecution.
Meanwhile, Azam said a few more investigation papers would be opened in relation to Jana Wibawa, adding it was possible that three to four others would be arrested.
