Pressure Grows On Zahid Report Lodged Over Claim Of Misleading Agong

(Malaysia Now) – A police report has been made against Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi over the possibility that he had misled the Yang di-Pertuan Agong during a recent audience at Istana Negara.
According to Utusan Malaysia, the Umno member who lodged the report also mentioned Zahid’s admission that it had been his voice in a recording of a phone conversation that exposed his cooperation with PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim.
“A police report was made at about 11am,” the Umno member was quoted as saying.
“It was in relation to the Umno president’s admission about the viral audio clip as well as the disclosure of his conversation with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.”
The Malay daily said the report was made to ask the police to investigate Zahid’s statement in which he had denied any involvement in the audio clip.
“The statement caused confusion among Umno members such as myself, and caused me to feel tricked by him.
“This police report was also made to ask the police to investigate whether Zahid had lied to the Agong and committed wrongdoing through the involvement in a conspiracy to topple the Malaysian government which has disturbed the people’s peace.”
Both Zahid and Anwar had previously denied speaking to each other in the aftermath of the Umno general assembly, which was when the recording was made.
However, Anwar at a dialogue on April 10 asked what the issue would be if the recording was real, while stopping short of denying that it was his voice in the clip.
When it was first reported by MalaysiaNow in April, Zahid had denied that it was him in the recording, saying that he would lodge a police report on the matter.
Anwar meanwhile described the audio recording as part of “sophisticated attempts” to defame him, and said he would let the police investigate.
