In a statement today, Prasarana Malaysia Bhd said the decision was due to the anticipation of a higher volume of passengers.
They said the adjustments would ensure that passengers can expect a shorter waiting period for train and bus services.
"We have also adjusted 23 trunk routes for buses and will be monitoring the increase in ridership. We will also be adding more trains as well as buses into our services, to cater to the passengers' needs."Prasarana said passengers on the Kelana Jaya light rail transit (LRT) line can expect four-minute intervals between train services on weekdays during the morning and afternoon peak hours.
Passengers can expect 11-minute intervals during non-peak hours and 15-minute intervals on weekends.
"Passengers on the Ampang/Sri Petaling LRT line can expect four-minute intervals between trains during weekday mornings and the afternoon peak hours; and seven-minute intervals during non-peak hours as well as on weekends."
Meanwhile, Kajang MRT and KL Monorail passengers can expect five-minute and 10-minute intervals, respectively, between trains during weekday peak hours.
The frequency of the Kajang MRT and KL Monorail services will be at 12-minute and 15-minute intervals, respectively, during non-peak hours. Both services will have 15-minute intervals on weekends.
Prasarana said, to ensure top-notch security for passengers, 98 per cent of its staff have received their vaccinations.
"We target to reach a 100 per cent vaccination rate by mid-September. This can be achieved thanks to the set-up of two industry vaccination centre (PPVIN) centres at the Putra Heights LRT Station and Rapid Bus Complex in Cheras Selatan".
Prasarana has also introduced additional Covid-19 prevention measures such as requiring their staff to double-mask when on duty.
"We'd also be putting screens in our buses to minimise contact with the bus captains and provide hand sanitisers at the Customer Service Counter.
"All our trains and buses are sanitised at their depots before and after entering service; while the stations and common areas such as escalator railings and washrooms are cleaned and sanitised frequently.
"We strongly recommend our passengers to follow Rapid KL's social media platforms or download the Pulse journey planner app to enable them to plan their journeys efficiently".
Passengers are required to observe the standard operating procedures (SOP) to ensure a safe and pleasant journey, including wearing a face mask, checking in and out using the MySejahtera app, using the logbook provided at all stations and practising physical distancing.
