Prabakaran Risks Legal Action If He Fails To Report Alleged Bribe Offer
Former Batu MP P Prabakaran claimed he was offered RM10 million to join MIC. (Facebook pic)PETALING JAYA: P Prabakaran, who is defending his Batu seat in the general election, could risk legal action if he does not report the alleged offer of RM10 million to defect to MIC, a PKR division leader said.
In a statement, Rozan Azen Mat Rasip said Prabakaran had made the allegation twice, but had yet to lodge any report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
“It’s like he is not serious about combating corruption and ensuring bribery is thwarted,” the Batu PKR vice-chief said.
Rozan said should Prabakaran fail to lodge a report, he could be charged under Section 25 (1) of the MACC Act 2009 (Act 694).

If convicted, Prabakaran can be slapped with a maximum fine of RM100,000 or imprisoned up to 10 years, or both.
Rozan said Prabakaran’s failure to lodge a report raises questions about the legitimacy of his claims, despite saying he had evidence to back up the allegation.
The allegation could also backfire on Prabakaran, Rozan added.
Earlier this week, a 35-second video went viral on social media showing Prabakaran claiming at a ceramah that he had been offered a sum of money to join MIC.
Following that, Kuala Lumpur MIC chairman S Rajah filed a police report against Prabakaran, stating that no one from MIC had ever offered RM10 million to Prabakaran and the allegation he made at a ceramah recently was meant to slander MIC leaders. - FMT
