Ppbm Youth To Nga Say Sorry For School Banner In Chinese
Mohd Ashraf Mustaqim of PPBM Youth education bureau.PETALING JAYA: An apology has been demanded from the MP for Teluk Intan, Nga Kor Ming, over a Chinese school’s use of a banner in Chinese, which also featured Malaysia’s coat of arms, at a school function
PPBM Youth education bureau head, Mohd Ashraf Mustaqim Badrul Munir, said the school’s action was “reckless” and “unpatriotic”
He said Nga, who is also deputy speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, should have reprimanded the school instead of sharing the picture of the banner on social media
The school is in Ayer Tawar, Perak, and the banner was for a function to be held tomorrow
Mustaqim said that Nga, who is the Perak DAP chairman, should have shown respect for the Federal Constitution by upholding the dignity of the nation’s coat of arms and that of the national language
He said Nga should be reminded that the National Language Act stipulated the use of Bahasa Malaysia at all official government functions
“Nga should apologise for his apathetic behaviour as the deputy speaker,” Mustaqim said in a statement
Nga recently posted a picture of the banner when announcing that he would be visiting the school to distribute aid
Education Minister Maszlee Malik has since reprimanded Nga and said that the message on the banner should have been written in the national language as it featured the country’s coat of arms
However, Nga said that the banner shown in his posting was an unofficial version, while the banner proper used both Chinese and Malay. - FMT
