Pm Is In Good Health Says His Political Secretary
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's health is in good condition, said his political secretary Kamil Munim. - NSTP/AIZUDDIN SAADKUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's health is in good condition, said his political secretary Kamil Munim.
"As one of the individuals close to the prime minister, I can confirm that his condition is much better than some of us despite being pushed by a very busy schedule.
"For a 76-year-old, it is normal to occasionally have a slight fever or allergies. However, his tenacity and enthusiasm to work continues, and those of us who are much younger sometimes lag behind in catching up with the 'pace' of his work.
"He does not budge from his determination to change the country and change is a process that must be endured even if it takes time and receives criticism," he said.
In a statement today, Kamil said some people sought to defame Anwar.
While he did not refer to any specific claims about Anwar, some political bloggers have implied that Anwar was not in the best of health.
"We are now in the month of Syawal celebrating one of the most important events in Islam
"However, this sacred space continues to be bombarded with political slander, engineered by some characters who have an endless grudge against the prime minister.
"The teachings of these two holy months does not penetrate their conscience to interpret it with better deeds and attitudes. Worse, this low-minded narrative is extended by a number of mob supporters who want to uphold Islam.
"This is sad and unfortunate as Islam forbids and prevents its people from any element of defamation, and defaming any person is like killing that person.
"Leave the practice of fooling yourself and ruining public opinion because Islam is merciful and rejects defamation. We should not be involved with such ugly practices."
Kamil also urged the police to take action against these slanderers and give as much free space as possible to honest critics because democratic rights do not include the practice of slander and defamation.
