Pm Dubai Move No Impact Let S Focus On More Important Work
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has brushed off concerns regarding the recent plot to overthrow his administration.
While acknowledging the existence of such a plot, dubbed the “Dubai Move”, he said the government should instead focus on carrying out its duty to the people.
“I have read about the Dubai Move. But to me, we should focus on our work.
“Whatever work they (plotters) do, brings no impact. What’s more important is that on Jan 2, we launched an important programme for the rakyat,” he told reporters today after launching the Central Database Hub (Padu).
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confirmed the existence of the Dubai Move, saying it not only involved opposition leaders but those from the government as well.
“We received intelligence reports right from their (alleged plotters) flight to the location (Dubai), and got a report afterwards,” the Umno president told a press conference in Putrajaya this morning.
However, he said such a move was a waste of time as Malaysians have already given their mandate to the elected MPs.
DPM Ahmad Zahid HamidiZahid refused to reveal the identities of those involved in the plot when asked.
Instead, he advised them to wait until the next general election if they wish to form a new government.
PN denies plot
The Dubai Move was first brought to light by Community Communications Department (J-Kom) deputy director-general Ismail Yusop.
He said the plan arose during a recent vacation taken by Perikatan Nasional leaders, as well as government backbenchers, to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
He also claimed a meeting took place during the visit to assign specific tasks to “agents” responsible for identifying MPs who might switch their support to the opposition with inducements.
PN has since denied the existence of such a plot.
