Pkr Will Reject Motion Of Confidence For Perak Mb

All three state assemblypersons from Perak PKR will not support a motion of confidence for Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu at the upcoming Perak state legislative assembly sitting.
At a press conference today, Simpang Pulai assemblyperson Tan Kar Hing (above) said Perak PKR had decided in a meeting to reject the motion brought by Umno's Pengakalan Baharu assemblyperson Abdul Manaf Hashim.
"Our position is, in case the motion is being debated in the assembly, we will not support the motion, we will not support (Ahmad Faizal)," he said.
"This is a motion tabled by a government lawmaker. (We don't know) if there is a hidden agenda behind it, for example, to show support or otherwise, you will have to ask (Abdul Manaf)," he said.
In a letter to the Perak assembly speaker dated Nov 18, Abdul Manaf stated that Ahmad Faizal has enough support from the majority of the assemblypersons so he, therefore, has applied for a motion of confidence.
The motion was accepted by the Speaker Mohamad Zahir Abdul Khalid and will be included in the sitting's agenda. The state assembly will convene from Dec 4 to 11 with the tabling of state budget tomorrow.
BN forms the largest bloc in the Perak assembly with 25 seats while Bersatu has six seats and PAS three. There are also two independents who back the Perikatan Nasional state government.
The opposition consists of DAP (16 seats), Amanah (5) and PKR (3).
Meanwhile, Perak PKR has made various demands regarding the state budget including for the state government to provide free masks and hand sanitiser for all schools in the state; to exempt 9,000 petty traders from paying license fees in 2021; to provide a six-month loan moratorium by state agencies as well as offers a 50 percent discount in assessment taxes.
PKR also urged the state government to set up childcare centres at all 69 buildings owned by the state government.
Tan said PKR will raise these matters at the upcoming sitting.   
State PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador said his party came up with the proposals that covered 15 segments as it was disappointed with the state government which he said lacked efficiency in taking care of citizens.
"All machinery must be mobilised to maximum capacity to ensure (all available) assistance reaches the people," he said in a statement.
"We demand that the state government pay serious attention to our requests," he said.  - Mkini
