Pkr Rep Wonders If Hadi S Aide Doubts His Boss Ability As Pm Candidate
A Selangor PKR assemblyperson today expressed “shock” and wondered whether Bachok MP Syahir Sulaiman lacks confidence in PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s suitability as a future prime minister.
According to Najwan Halimi, as someone so close to Hadi, Syahir should have named the Marang MP as being capable of leading Malaysia as the 11th prime minister.
Instead, the Selangor exco said his expectation was wrong, as Syahir stated that he wanted to see a technocrat replace Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
“Strange, isn’t it? As one of PAS’ young leaders, even serving as an officer to the PAS president, did Syahir himself not think of naming his boss as a prime ministerial candidate?
“Does Syahir himself not have confidence in Hadi’s leadership, wisdom, and credibility as a prime ministerial candidate?” he said this evening.
Anwar’s successor?
Earlier, Syahir expressed his hope that a technocrat would be chosen as the 11th prime minister to replace Anwar, in response to the views of former MP and diplomat Nazri Abdul Aziz.

PAS president Abdul Hadi AwangSyahir claimed that it would not be difficult to find a replacement for Anwar, as the Pakatan Harapan chairperson and PKR president had set a low standard as prime minister.
He also cited the late Selangor menteri besar Khalid Ibrahim as a technocratic figure suitable to lead Malaysia as prime minister.
According to him, the selection of such a figure does not necessarily have to come from politicians but could also include top officials from government-linked companies or government investment-linked companies.
For the record, PAS vice president Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar was previously considered a prime ministerial candidate from the party. The Terengganu menteri besar has experience as an academician and comes from an engineering background.
Weak stance
Najwan (above) claimed Syahir’s stance in not naming Hadi was even weaker than Bersatu’s position.
“As weak as Bersatu is, being a small party within Perikatan Nasional, their leaders still take pride and have confidence - even though it has been proven that he was the most failed prime minister in history - in positioning Muhyiddin Yassin as a prime ministerial candidate,” he said.

Bachok MP Syahir SulaimanThe Kota Anggerik assemblyperson added that Syahir should reflect and apologise to PAS leaders and members who might feel hurt by his open statement that implicitly undermined Hadi’s capability and credibility.
“As a PAS leader and right-hand man to its president, Syahir must have confidence in Hadi’s capabilities.
“What is certain is that the technocrat candidate he mentioned does not yet exist among PAS’ current leadership,” he said. - Mkini
