Pkr And Dap Did Not Nominate Anyone For Cabinet Reshuffle
PKR and DAP have confirmed that they did not submit names for a cabinet reshuffle, which has been heavily speculated by the press of late
Speaking to reporters at the Parliament lobby today, PKR president-elect Anwar Ibrahim said his party has never discussed this
"No one in PKR talked about the need for any changes (to the cabinet) or nominated new names. No changes. (It is) status quo," he said
Similarly, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said DAP has not nominated anyone for a cabinet position to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad
"No names have been submitted by DAP for a reshuffle," said Lim, who is also finance minister
Outgoing PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail refused to comment on this when approached at the Parliament lobby
"Ask the prime minister," she said curtly before leaving the area
Yesterday, a report by Singapore's Straits Times citing Mahathir sparked a flurry of speculative reports on a possible reshuffle following the conclusion of PKR's election
Meanwhile, former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak said that if a cabinet reshuffle were held soon, it would be going against the norm and may affect public confidence in the government
"Normally, a cabinet reshuffle is held after about a year and a half. If it happens now, it would be against the norm."It will also give the impression that the ministers that were appointed were not credible and did not perform as expected," he said at the Parliament lobby
When asked for his evaluation of the cabinet's performance so far, Najib said that duty falls on the public
"You can't expect me to give them high marks. It is up to the public to decide," he said. - Mkini
