Lodged by PH’s mobilisation bureau, the first report involved PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s cryptic comment of a football referee providing “extra time for the losing side” after the match was over.
His comment, a quotation from a column he wrote for the party organ Harakah, was interpreted as a reference to the formation of a unity federal government. It drew angry responses on Twitter.
PH claimed the statement was in reference to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and that Hadi’s remark was tantamount to treason.
The second report involved several statements alleging that Anwar was backed by Israel to become prime minister, including a social media posting that was shared by a page called “Perikatan Nasional for Malaysia”.
The third report involved an audio recording which had been circulating, purportedly of PAS leader Nik Zawawi Salleh claiming that the new government led by Anwar would not last long.
The man in the recording claimed that there would be “a certain strategy” to ensure that Perikatan Nasional will be in the federal government again.
The fourth report urged the police to probe possible leakages in the government’s apparent expenditure of over RM600 billion during the Muhyiddin Yassin administration.
Meanwhile, Hulu Langat MP Sany Hamzan urged the government to form a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) into how Muhyiddin’s government had spent its funds.
“If there is an RCI to investigate the spending, we will know where the money went,” he told reporters outside the Dang Wangi police headquarters here.
During the recent election campaign, Muhyiddin had reiterated that not one sen of the more than RM500 billion in stimulus and aid measures his government spent during the Covid-19 pandemic was misused.
Melaka PH chief Adly Zahari had said the coalition will investigate if there was any corruption involved in how Muhyiddin’s administration had spent government funds during the pandemic, if PH won the election. - FMT
