Petrol Station Goes Viral For Locking Cars That Park For More Than 10 Minutes

THE sight of a petrol station is more than just a promise that our trusty vehicles are going to continue moving. It is often also seen as a rest and relaxation stop, a restaurant or a toilet, depending on your needs.
For some people, however, it is yet another place to park one’s car. Where Kuala Lumpur is concerned, parking spots can be a luxury so people tend to place their cars there for an indefinite period of time.
However, a certain petrol station is not having any of that as seen in a post on X by netizen @bckupacc99. According to him, the unidentified petrol station allows customers to only park their cars there for 10 minutes. Any longer and the vehicle shall be clamped.
Bagi masa 10 minit je.

Sounds fair or is this a little too much? Strangely, netizens were overwhelmingly positive about the practice, with @Vavisial stating that they are doing it right.
“The best. Other people also want to park. When it becomes normalised that such parking spots are like the ones in the shopping mall, they will disappear,” added @FSIKY.
Then there was @rabbaniahmad_ pointing out that those who don’t want their vehicles to be clammed will need to have a person sitting inside who can move it away.

“This must be near the MRT station. Many people love to park at the petrol station there and sit on the MRT to get to work,” @mat_aidilx commented.

Since the identity of the petrol station was not revealed, it was open for speculation. However, a Facebook post on April 27 this year may illuminate this mystery.
The post by Petron Bandar Sri Permaisuri Cheras said in no uncertain terms that vehicle owners who park in the Petron area without any business with Petron, CU Mart or Kapitan, will get clamped.
“We have received many complaints about insufficient parking. It turns out some vehicle owners have been parking for hours. Don’t be upset if you get clamped,” it added. — Focus Malaysia
