MP SPEAKS | PAS Youth’s latest protest against the Urban Renewal Act is a masterclass in political absurdity.
Instead of engaging in a fact-based discussion on urban development, they’ve resorted to sensationalism, even drawing bizarre parallels between the Act and the plight of Palestinians.
Malaysians are not under siege. Our government is not bulldozing homes in occupied territories, nor are we displacing communities through military force.
Comparing a legitimate urban planning policy to Zionist aggression is not only intellectually dishonest but dangerously irresponsible.
Is PAS deliberately inciting sedition by insinuating that our democratically elected government operates like an occupying force? If so, they should be prepared to answer for such reckless rhetoric.
The Urban Renewal Act is about revitalising cities, preventing decay, and ensuring safer, better living environments. But PAS Youth, true to form, spins it as an attack on property rights.
If only they showed the same passion for real issues—like poverty, education, or the lack of development in PAS-led states – perhaps their outrage would hold more weight.
Above all, the Urban Renewal Act is about improving the quality of life for every Malaysian—things PAS should support if they truly care about the rakyat.
But instead, they prefer fear-mongering, distorting progress while failing to address any real pressing issues. If only they channelled the same energy into tackling poverty and underdevelopment in their own states, they might actually make a real difference.
Instead of championing progress, they prefer their usual theatrics—manufacturing outrage over policies they barely understand.
Perhaps PAS fears progress because it exposes their own failures. Perhaps their real fear is not urban renewal but being left behind by it. But Malaysia will move forward—with or without them. - Mkini
