Pas Proposes All Parties Unite Under Its Logo For Malacca Polls
PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has proposed that “all parties” who want to work with the party in the Malacca election unite under the PAS logo.
“Since all parties have agreed to work together with PAS, it would be good for us to use one logo - which is the PAS logo - in the upcoming Malacca state election.
“Think about it,” he mused in a brief Facebook post.
Tuan Ibrahim, who is the second-highest in command in the party, did not specify who he was directing his suggestion at.
However, this comes after the Umno supreme council said it would work with PAS in the Malacca polls with one caveat - Umno and PAS would contest under their respective logos.
Tuan Ibrahim’s proposal also comes after PAS was listed as one of the three parties that will contest under Perikatan Nasional’s ticket in Malacca.
The Islamist party itself has yet to formally announce its official plans for the state election.
The Nov 8 nomination day is 10 days away.
This is while Pakatan Harapan’s three component parties will contest all 28 seats under one logo - the Harapan logo.
Not bound by others’ decisions
Meanwhile, PAS religious council Dewan Ulamak committee member Khairuddin Aman Razali said his party was “not tied” to decisions made by other parties when asked about last night’s decision by the Umno supreme council.
Instead, he told Malaysiakini that PAS was capable of making its own decisions.
“PAS through our syura council and central working committee will make our own decision after considering the pros and cons, the benefits and losses, the unity of the umat plus (how) to prevent Harapan from winning.
“PAS is not bound by the conditions or decisions of other parties.
“PAS is committed to unite Malay-Muslim political power and to stopping Harapan from winning in any election,” he said. - Mkini
