Pas Needs Universal Slogan To Attract Mic Like Ally Says Puad
Perikatan Nasional’s struggle to attract influential coalition partners presents a significant challenge, especially with PAS unable to replicate the “Green Wave” momentum from the previous general election, according to Puad Zarkashi.
ADSReflecting on the results of the Ayer Kuning by-election in Perak, the Umno supreme council member emphasised that PAS should reconsider its focus on the narrative of an Islamic state.
He pointed out that this issue is hindering PN’s efforts to secure meaningful non-Malay party alliances.
“PN is finding it difficult to form alliances with non-Malay parties. Gerakan is too small to make a difference, and to date, PN lacks an Indian party like MIC,” he stated, without even mentioning PN’s Indian MIC splinter ally, the Malaysian Indian People’s Party.
Puad argued that PAS’ approach is a key obstacle to PN’s ability to attract influential coalition partners and suggested that PAS adopt a more inclusive and universally appealing slogan.
The Umno leader suggested that PAS rethink its messaging, urging the Islamist party, which has largely campaigned along racial and religious lines, to adopt a more “universal” slogan.
‘Don’t dream’
Puad highlighted Umno’s successes in the Nenggiri, Mahkota, and Ayer Kuning by-elections, viewing them as a clear message to PN that attempts to form a backdoor government are futile.
“Don’t dream of forming a backdoor government. The spirit of Umno is resolute. No BN parliamentarian will switch sides,” he asserted.

Puad also noted that the coalition government has already outlasted the tenures of its predecessors - Pakatan Harapan’s 22 months, Muhyiddin Yassin’s 17 months, and Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s 15 months.
He emphasised that the Ayer Kuning by-election has sent a clear message: the people want stability, not political fairy tales.
“PN should focus on the upcoming 16th general election or, at the very least, the Sabah state election,” he added.
In Saturday’s contest, BN successfully retained the Ayer Kuning state seat after its candidate, Yusri Bakir, secured victory in a three-cornered fight with a 5,006-vote majority. - Mkini
