Partnered with Tourism Johor for a lush pineapple farm inspired by Pekan Nanas in support of Johor local tourism

The magnificent 16.76 length x 33.53 width metre indoor pineapple farm covers Paradigm Mall Johor Bharu Ground Floor Main Atrium which highlights one of Johor's best trait in agro-tourism.
Enter one of its kind, Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru’s (PMJB) indoor farm this festive season and witness the largest pineapple Raya decoration, marking itself in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR).

Selena Chua, Chief Executive Officer – WCT Malls Management said “We are honored to present the magnificent decoration which covers 5,460 sq. ft. pineapple themed Raya décor that we have taken inspiration from Johor’s best traits, the famous pineapple town Pekan Nanas, together in collaboration with Tourism Johor.”

“Our Raya theme décor for PMJB is to show our support to Johor’s tourism industry and the local pineapple farmers who faced setbacks from the prolonged rainy weather in addition to the Covid-19 pandemic which slows down many pineapple farmers production in getting ready with the festive supply” she added at the Malaysia Book of Record certificate presentation ceremony.

As the crowd returns to the mall during this festive season, Selena commented “Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru put more attention on the SOP compliance as we have seen photos of crowded street bazaars and the long queue that could risk ourselves to be exposed to the virus, therefore, we strongly suggest shoppers can skip the hassle and can bring their families here for Raya preparation.”

The pineapple Raya theme 'Raya di Desa' brings the memorable kampung scenery of Pekan Nanas and showcase some of the local farmer's pineapple-based products for visitors to enjoy.

Mr. Muhammad Amirul Ardy, Senior Assistant Director Tourism Johor said “The initiative with Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru is not only to drive traffic to the mall but also to use this opportunity while there is a crowd during this Raya to educate the public about agro-tourism attraction here in Johor while complying to the SOP.”

“We want the public to support and ‘Buy Malaysia Products’ as we aim to revive the industry and provide a more stable income for the community in Johor after more than a year-long Covid-19 pandemic turmoil” he added.

Visitors can view the display and learn about the origin of Pekan Nanas's agro-tourism while they shop for Raya preparation.
The Malaysia Book of Record certificate was presented last Wednesday by Jwan Heah Yeow Hooi, Director of Business Development - Malaysia Book of Records to WCT Malls Chief Executive Officer, Selena Chua accompanied by WCT’s Retail Director, Raymond Tan, at Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru.

Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru is now a verified entry for the Largest Pineapple Theme Raya Decoration in the Malaysia Book of Records.
The display includes a 1,400 sq. ft. dedicated farm area with 224 pieces of pineapple fruits and leaf is up for a view from 23rd April – 23rd May at Ground Floor Main Atrium with kampung themed scenery ‘Raya di Desa’ bazaar that showcases a variety of pineapple-based products from the local entrepreneur.

Visitors can bring home and try out the sweet Dried MD2 Pineapple, freshly cut pineapple and snacks brought by Ananas Republic or stock up some Raya Cookies and home decorations for this Raya.

There is an amazing line-up contest and family activities for the visitors in getting into the spirit of Aidilfitri such as art-making of Wau Crafting, Raya Greeting Card and Ketupat Weaving workshop and get entertain by series of Malay traditional performances while they shop for baju raya.
