Outgoing Pkr Leaders Want Infighting Stopped For Ge15
The final day of the PKR National Congress saw outgoing party leaders urging all members to stop infighting and close ranks to strengthen the party for the coming 15th general election.
PKR Women's chief Fuziah Salleh in her winding-up speech this morning said all warring factions in the party must start working together if they want to see the party emerge victorious.
"There have been cases where the division chief refused to include the division Wanita chief to join the meeting just because she is not in his team. The same thing has also happened with some state leadership.
"We are in one family. We should be able to discuss and not fight.
"The party election is over. It does not matter whether we belong to this team or that team (during party polls), but after the election is over, those who lost (and won) must be together to build our party.
"Like Kak Wan (PKR advisory council chairperson Wan Azizah Wan Ismail) said at the PKR Women's Congress, if one does not love the party, then leave. If you want to stay, then help build the party's strength," Fuziah (above) said.
Today is the Kuantan MP's last day as PKR Women's chief, after being appointed to the post in 2020 to replace Haniza Mohamed Talha who was sacked.
The role will be assumed by Fadhlina Sidek, who won the post in the recent party election.
Fuziah in her speech also called on the PKR leadership to adopt stronger actions against members who attack the party in public instead of going through proper internal forums.
She said there were PKR members who love to use public space to air their grievances about party decisions.
"Even for the smallest issues, these people would post on Facebook, or issue press releases. Sometimes they would even do Facebook Live.
"They think that they look cool by doing all these. But they do not realise that what they are doing was actually destroying the party," Fuziah said, to the loud cheer of delegates.
She then suggested that the party blacklist those who like to air the party's dirty laundry in public.
Don’t give bullets to enemy
PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil, meanwhile, lambasted party members who like to lodge reports with authorities against the party.
He said this was akin to giving bullets to their enemy, which is the governing party.
PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil"To strengthen our party, we must give full trust to our new leadership. No need to say this and that on Whatsapp…
"And do not give bullets to our enemies. I do not like those among us who tend to lodge reports with the police, with the Registrar of Society (against the party).
"Why do we want to stick our own neck to the enemy? We know that they (governing party) are now worried as our party is being led by Anwar Ibrahim and Rafizi Ramli, the best combination to lead PKR towards GE15," he said.
Outgoing vice-president Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin told delegates and the new leadership to not have little Napoleons in the party.
He said those who were elected to be leaders also should not think they are always right.
Outgoing PKR vice-president Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin"When we are in a jemaah (congregation), we are under one chief, and that is enough. We do not need more than one.
"We have gone through the era of betrayal, please do not let this party go through another," he said. - Mkini
