Nora Anne S Family Urges Police To Investigate Three Houses Witness
The Coroner's Court was told that a day after Nora Anne Quoirin disappeared on Aug 5 last year, her family told the police that they suspected she was abducted and urged them to inspect three houses, one of which was suspected to be where the teenager was probably held
Nilai district police chief Mohd Nor Marzukee Besar, the third witness to the inquest proceedings to determine the cause of death of the teenage girl, said all three houses were located outside The Dusun Resort area
Nora Anne and her family checked in at the resort upon their arrival on Aug 3, 2019, in Malaysia for a two-week vacation
"Nora Anne's family members gave information and expected their missing daughter to be in the surrounding areas. I told them that I would fulfil their request and search the three houses
"I have asked the Criminal Investigation Departments of the Negeri Sembilan police contingent headquarters and the Nilai district police headquarters to search the three houses," he said when testifying at the inquest which entered its second day today
When asked by deputy public prosecutor Muhamad Iskandar Ahmad why the inspection was only specific to three houses, he said the action was as requested by the family
The search for the teenager did not stop there but was redoubled with the search operation involving two teams around the resort area covering 4.85ha and with continuous roadblocks
"I was informed by the family that the missing teenager could not walk more than 20 feet (six metres). I thought the search area of 12 acres was sufficient with the information I had
"In addition, considering the physical condition and level of thinking of the victim which was like that of a seven-year-old, I took the initiative to put up roadblocks thinking that she might hitch a ride in a vehicle or motorcycle out of the area
‘’And with these restrictions, we could prevent her from leaving the area under the administration of the Nilai police headquarters,” he said
The court was also told that the search operation for Nora Anne, which was carried out as soon as the teenager was reported missing on Aug 4 last year, involved an area of 250 metres around the villa area where the victim and her family stayed
During the proceeding, the court was also shown a sketch of a map of The Dusun Resort area which was shown on a screen using a projector as well as sketches of two roadblocks implemented, which were drawn by Mohd Nor Marzukee
The inquest proceedings would take place for two weeks starting yesterday until Aug 28 and would resume on Sept 1 to 4 before Coroner Maimoonah Aid. A total of 64 witnesses would be called to testify to assist in the investigation
Nora Anne, 15, went missing on Aug 4, a day after she and her family arrived in Malaysia for a two-week holiday at a resort in Pantai, about 60km south of Kuala Lumpur
Her body was found near a creek in a ravine, about 2.5km from the resort where she and her family stayed, on Aug 13 last year, following a massive search
Preliminary surgical reports stated that the death of the teenager, who was handicapped, had no criminal element and the teenager was confirmed dead from gastrointestinal bleeding due to prolonged hunger and stress
