The fare which was introduced in phases will involve four more key routes in the city centre early next year.
"The fare was implemented in stages early this year involving Route 01 (Green), Route 02 (Purple), Route 03 (Red), and Route 04 (Blue).
"By Jan 1 next year, non-Malaysian passengers will also have to pay fare on additional routes which include Route 05 (Orange), Route 06 (Pink), and Route 08 (Maroon).
"Non-citizens will be charged RM1 per journey, with payment accepted only through cashless methods, including Touch 'n Go cards, QR codes, or credit and debit cards," DBKL said in a statement yesterday.
Malaysians, who hold a MyKad linked to the Touch 'n Go system, will continue to enjoy free rides on GOKL buses. However, they must register their MyKad to retain this benefit.
DBKL added that GOKL services will remain free for all children aged 12 and below, regardless of citizenship.
MyKad registration can be done at the following locations including Hentian Akhir Titiwangsa, Universiti LRT Station (East), and Hentian One Maxim.
An additional registration counter will be set up on the 8th floor of Jabatan Pengangkutan Bandar, Menara DBKL 2, operating from 9am to 12noon and 2pm to 4pm (Monday to Friday). - NST
