Nik Abduh Is My Mentor Chempaka Pas Candidate
Chempaka PAS candidate Nik Bahrum Nik Abdullah is remaining calm and focused on the campaign despite the ‘storm’ brewing over his candidacy.
When asked about the speculation that the seat was meant for former Bachok MP Nik Mohammad Abduh Nik Aziz to contest, he said he did not know about the matter.
“I did not know Nik Abduh’s intention to contest there, and I never meant to replace anyone.
“The matter of selecting and appointing candidates is the business of the central PAS leadership. So there is no issue of taking over in this case, plus Nik Abduh is my mentor; how can a student fight their mentor,” Nik Bahrum (above, centre) told Malaysiakini.
Nik Bahrum attended an event in Chempaka last night, which was meant to introduce the candidates under the Pengkalan Chepa parliamentary constituency.
Former Bachok MP Nik Mohammad Abduh Nik AzizAlso present were Kijang candidate Izani Husin and Panchor candidate Mohd Amar Abdullah.
The Chempaka seat had come under scrutiny yesterday after Nik Din Nik Mat, who is the younger brother of the late Kelantan menteri besar Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, claimed that Mohd Amar was the reason why Nik Abduh was not nominated as a candidate for that seat this election.
Nik Din alleged that Nik Abduh was initially listed as a candidate for Chempaka but this was blocked by Amar who purportedly did not want Nik Abdul Aziz’s family to establish themselves in the Pengkalan Chepa area.
Amar has since denied the allegations and described Nik Din’s remarks as slander against him. - Mkini
