Netizens Point Out Scams That Have Been Normalised They No Longer Resemble Scams And It Is Hilarious
HOW do we boil a frog? By turning up the heat gradually while the frog sits in the pot of water.
We suppose the context matches best with a recent topic of discussion on the X platform.
There, a netizen could be seen asking opinions on what constitutes a scam, although it has been happening for so long that people came to accept it as a part of life.
With such a question, you can expect some hilarious and wise ass response coming from the online community in the comment section. And we are not disappointed.
Netizen Aziz Mohamad had one word to say, and it was “insurance.”
When asked to elaborate, some commented that claiming for insurance was difficult where the agents will find all sorts of excuses to deny it.
Colin Ray, however, pointed out that this problem won’t happen if people buy their insurance from award-winning agents who have a good reputation.
It is easier to claim through them, he said, adding that people should not buy insurance from their friends. “Sad, but we need to care for ourselves first,” said Colin Ray.
Another netizen added that people should buy insurance from people who are already established in the industry, where their parents and children are all agents. “Because they are invested,” he said.
More suggestions followed, with some pointing out universities and schools as a scam while others griped about the rising cost of Yong Tau Fu.
“Why is it that the Yong Tau Fu sold by the Chinese is cheap while the Malays sell it so expensive, up to dozens of ringgit? Who can answer?” said Vito.
Then there was wandoit who pointed out the promises of politicians. “This, we are all aware,” said Nazmi to which wandoit replied that people were aware, yet they chose to close their eyes and become the fanatical supporters to these politicians, or as he says it, “politikus,” a derogatory term.
The list continues, following with many interesting comments that were either pertinent or downright comedy.
But what is your take on this subject? —Jan 26, 2025
